Young Regional School of Music is fortunate to have the Acacia Quartet performing at this black tie affair in aid of raising funds for the Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network who is always working silently in the background to maintain and preserve life and mental health in the Hilltops Region. The historic ‘Clifton House and Gardens’, situated in the bountiful Hilltops Region, will combine old world charm with the warm ambience of the quartet, while serving hors-d'oevres and providing some of the regions taste sensations including local wines.
Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18/6 is the last of a set of six string quartets, making up Op. 18. They got commissioned by Prince Lobkowitz and No. 6 became famous for the harmonic spectrum in its La Malinconia movement, never heard at the time before. Gordon Kerry's String Quartet No. 5, a new Australian work, is featuring various hymns and is nature descriptions. The program will finish with Antonín Dvorák's famous String Quartet No. 12, Op. 96, 'American'. Dvorák wrote this wonderful piece during the summer of 1893, while being on vacation in Spillville, Iowa and it cleary shows African-American influences.
