Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartet Op. 18/4
Graeme Koehne - String Quartet No. 3 ‘True History Of The Kelly Gang’
Robert Schumann - String Quartet No. 3
Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 18/4 is the last of the Op. 18 quartets to be completed in 1800 and besides being heavily influenced by Haydn, it also is his choice of C minor, making him become synonymous with this key of C minor.
Australian composer Graeme Koehne’s String Quartet No. 3 ‘True History Of The Kelly Gang’ is literally the musical story of the Kelly Gang in the 1870’s.
Schumann composed his String Quartet No. 3 in the summer of 1842. 1842 was the year he composed most of his chamber music, all of his string quartets, the piano quartet and quintet.
