A workshop in compositional techniques for secondary school students, years 9-11. While the workshop focus on years 9-11, other students are encouraged to attend the workshops if they're considering composition studies or electives at any level.
4-5 pm on Sunday 26 July, Acacia Quartet, Ensemble Offspring and Sally Whitwell will be presenting a concert of new music including five world premieres (by Alex Pozniak, Nicholas Vines, Anastasia Pahos, Holly Harrison and Andrew Batt-Rawden). The four works commissioned for the event (Pozniak, Vines, Pahos, Harrison) will be performed twice.
The new works will have resource kits and CDs made available after the workshop.
The workshop component will involve members of the performing ensembles and the composers workshopping compositions of students and they'll receive immediate feedback on their works from the ensemble and the resident composers.
